Jezz,
Yeah, after some discussion, Nathan emailed me and said he and his dad would take care of what we agreed on, which is to fix the gas issue and the cracked manifold. Before taking the car to the shop, the car drove really strong. I would have kept driving it had it not been for the really bad gas smell the same day I got it. Lucky for me I never hit the Nitrous though. Why is that lucky? Well, while the tuners looked for the cause of gas smell, they discovered a crack in the manifold which was causing one of the cylinders to **** air -- so no NOS until that got fixed. After they pulled off the manifold to get the crack welded, they noticed that the direct port NOS injectors were itty bitty tiny... well, except for one, which was really big. This stumped them and they still don't know why this would have been done except it might have been an oversight on the one injector. The setup was only for 75 extra horses I was told, while I thought the car had a 200 shot, but the owner told me it was a 150 shot. Talk about all over the place. So we're not sure why there was a direct port system set up for such a small amount. The car is great and has the fuel system to be a 300 shot, but SVSi put on some really small heads for some reason -- and not sure why the owner thought he had twice what he did. Anyway, the system was found to bean old one after taking it apart and it was recommended that I switch to a newer two fogger non direct port type set up and just use all the existing stuff I have in there, so there's really no major cost in doing this. The explanation was that the more simple you keep it, the less chance of something going wrong, and with a direct port system, you have 10 chances of something going bad. So that is what I will have in about a week. No longer will I have a direct port system (which I think BTR said they didn't like anyway) and will instead have two big NOS shooters. West Coast Vipers will be dynoing it next week starting at a 100 shot and increasing it up to a 200, potentially a 300 shot if all looks good.
After that, I will finally have the beast back and it should be in good working order. One thing that is kinda weak right now is I have these big Brembo race brakes on the front and they squeak at low speed stops (like the last 2 seconds before the car stops at a light or in front of a restaurant.) The car has full on racing pads, so I decided to swap them out for something not so tracked out, but West Coast Vipers said they haven't found any pads that fit it that are not at least what I have on the car. I might post a separate message about this to see if anybody else has found a solution.
The crappy part is now having to wait to get the car back - I'm dying here to drive it again.
