5th Gear Whine

Anybody notice a 5th. gear whine that kinda hangs around 65 mph? The other gears are quiet, but I notice a 5th gear hummm, whine around 65...

1800 miles on the clock...

Any thing to be concerned about?

Yep...been there and done that. I experienced the same annoying whine with 4600 miles on the car. Solution, took the car to Jason Heffner's shop and had the stock gears replaced with 3:55's. End result, no more whine and more seat of pants acceleration.

I used to get whine all the time in my Viper .....so I asked her not to ride with me any more!

I think Dave is talking about Tranny whine, not rear end.

Dave, mine does it too. Only 5th and 6th. It's never given me a problem. But the noise is there.

Jerry, Thanks for the input...yes mine also has a little whine in 6th too.

Guy's - The noise you are hearing is coming from the rear. Given the close-ness between the driver seat, tranny, and the rear, the whine appears to be around the tranny, but it's really coming from the rear. Trust me, I too thought the whine was coming from the tranny...not so, it's the gears in the rear. For confirmation, call Jason Heffner and describe the noise.

I still don't think so. I have two rear ends. I heard it with my 307 and 354.

I actually run a 354 now.
