I don't know about the 05', but the 06' say's 0w-40 and I could only find it at NAPA Auto Supply. I would stick with what the oil fill cap say's on top. Put the 5w-30 in another vehicle.
Id probably use it in another car as well. The 05-06's both call for 0w-40. I stay with that, but honestly i dont think it would harm anything if you used that stuff in the Viper.
We have the '05 and we stick to 0-40 synthetic. Would go with the others' suggestions and use the 5w-30 in another vehicle--more like a daily driver you might have? With oil, you really want to stay in specs suggested by mfr. Just my opinion...~ ~~juli
