VIRGINIA-MARYLAND REGION
6th Annual Western Maryland Fall Cruise 2008

Cruise Details: The Western Maryland Fall Cruise may likely be one of the last times to get your Viper out before the real cold weather and inclement conditions hit our area. This year’s cruise will start in New Market, Maryland and end at Miyako Restaurant in Frederick, Maryland. Our route will take us through Libertytown, New Windsor, Taneytown, Emmitsburg, Waynesboro, Smithsburg and along Greenbrier State Park on our way back into Frederick. A map along with detailed driving instructions will be provided.

When: Saturday, November 1st, 2008

Time: Cruise - Meet @ 9:45 AM, Depart promptly @ 10:00 AM
Lunch - 1:00 PM

Meeting Place: Park and Ride off Route 75 East in New Market, Exit 62. If traveling I-70 East, take exit 62, veer off to right (follow signs to Park and Ride), Park and Ride is straight ahead. If traveling I-70 West, take exit 62, come to stop sign and make left turn onto Route 75. Proceed over I-70, Park and Ride is straight ahead.

Note: If you need gas or a restroom stop prior to arriving at meeting location, there are two gas stations located off of Route 144. If you come in I-70 East, make a left instead of a right on Route 75, proceed about ½ mile and make a right on MD 144, you will see the gas stations and shopping centers on both sides of the about 200 yards ahead. Our first leg of the trip will be about 45 miles, you will be able to get Exxon gasoline at this pit stop.

Restaurant: Miyako Japanese Steakhouse
5500 Buckeystown Pike #615
Frederick, MD 21703
TEL: (301) 631-0331

The restaurant is located inside FSK Mall. When entering off of the Route 85 entrance, veer towards the right after the Shell gas station. Take the mall loop past the Sears and Value City. The mall entrance to the restaurant is right next to the Macy’s.

You have the option of attending the cruise and/or the lunch.

In the event of rain, the cruise will be cancelled, but not the lunch. Feel free to come up with your daily driver.

Please PM your RSVP or use the contact information that went out in the club email. (just trying to avoid getting hit with spam if I post my email)

Last year we had 24 cars attend. Let's see if we can top it this year! This event is open to members from other regions as well.

If any other VA Beach area locals are going I will try to attend. I have nothing planned as of now.

Not sure the cruise is worth the trip up. We had a few cars come from your way for the Fall 2-day Cruise a couple of weeks ago. You are of course more than welcome to attend, but the cruise is only about 2 1/2 hours in total.

piece of cake. I think the trip to Gregs house was roughly that for me for the pig roast. I just don't want to fly solo. Bill ***** was one of the guys who came up for the 2 day cruise I believe. I am trying to coax him into traveling with my wife and I up that way.

You are correct. If you guys decide to come up, let me know. The more the merrier.

I can't figure out where the meeting place is
how would I get there from Gaithersburg MD

Two choices:

You can take I-270 North and get off on I-80 (Urbana exit). You would head toward Urbana. After about three miles you make a left on I-75. That will lead you into New Market and the Park and Ride.

Second option is to stay on I-270 North and then take I-70 East towards Baltimore once you get into Frederick. You would then get off on the New Market exit (I-75) and follow the signs to the Park and Ride (from that direction you would veer to the right at the exit and the Park and Ride is straight ahead.

Hope this helps.

How was the cruise today?

Gorgeous Day. I had to do a last minute re-route due to road construction, so I would have like to have had more driving time. We still did about 65 miles though. We had 11 for the cruise and three more join us for lunch.

I backed off the pace this year. No Haytrucks to pass either.:(

You back on the road yet?

Unfortunately, no. Car should go in this week, and will take a day. I was really bummed I couldn't get it done in time to attend the cruise.
