SneakyPete,

If I disconnect the radio, I will loose all my radio presets. Can I simply pull the fuse instead?

fuse pulling won't work. you need to cut the power Scottie. disconnect the positive on the battery for at least 10 minutes. a trick to discharge faster is to hold down brake after disconnect to drain residual capacitors reserving power. not sure if it helps but it sounds good! and your previous statement about not wanting to have to reset your radio presets, boy i thought i was a lazy guy, you take the cake. LOL. your gonna have to take 2 minutes of your time to reprogram those radio stations or dodge can do it for an hours labor charge!

Boy you guys are WEAK..

THE EASY solution, is to just take the cover panel off thats protecting the PCM from Dirt and debre(not the pcm's itself), disconnect the EASILY unplugable 3 plugs, keep it disconected for like 5 mins, plug back in, put cover back on...

RESET COMPLETE.

And Radio stations are not affected.

Good Luck Ron.

just as Jon describes, but I always loose my presets. No worries the cam sounds much better than any radio station

Give this some thought, I will bet I can pull the rear battery cable faster than you can pull the three PCM plugs and also not worry about the possibility of a bad pin from pulling the three connectors - just a personal preference.

and you will lose the radio stations too, with yours.

and I bet you would HAVE to try to bend on of thsoe pins, as it aligns within the coupler, before you even attempt to make contact, so its not like a computer hard drive, your already lined up, before it every attempts to make contact.

Also think about this, how good is it really to "shock" your electical system, every time you connect and disconnect that battery, ever seen those little sparks, when you make contact, not the best way to "wake" a device up.

it is not a shock to the system, every electrical system (your house is not much different) has capacitance relative to the reference or ground plane. This is where the energy is stored and all you are doing is bleeding off the stored charge. You can let time bleed the charge or you can take the positive cable and touch the frame. Either way is effective.

I just feel the PCM connectors are too fragile and the harness far too taunt. I do not like fooling with them if at all possible.

Can't you also disconnect the positive cable at the master cylinder and get the same result ? (although I usually do the 3 pcm connectors) I should test this :LAZY: :)

Here is a thought on the fuse:

Disconnect the air intake temp connector at the right rear of the air box/filters. Turn on or start the car. The check engine light will come on. turn off the car. Pull the #15 fuse for 5 minutes. Plug the air temp back in. Put the fuse back in. Turn on or start the car, if the check engine light is still on it did not work with the fuse. If the check engine light is off, then it worked IMO.

Why I gotta have a 2000 Viper now ? because you dont like me :D ? Guess my car is now officially steal grey, and not graphite metalic.

What I am saying, is that I dont like that "zap" or "spark" no matter what its purpose is. I would rather do the pcm connectors, because when you connect and disconnect them, there is no spark/zap, and you dont have to reset your radio stations or electronic seat position, or your side mirrors ( ok ok, I got carried away, we dont have a vette here).
