I finally pulled the trigger on a viper. 2004 w/ about 20k on the clock. Anyway... on to the questions...

    - Did the gen III not come with floor mat hooks? The mats have the holes but I dont c see any evidence of hooks ever being there.

    - What do you guys use to clean/condition the convertable top?

    - Any tips on cleaning the engine?

    - Paint is good except for a few blemishes but I was thinking of clay barring it before I wax... anybody done this?

That's it for now. I'll ad more as I think of them. thanks in advance!

    -not sure

    -never owned a convertible

-you have to be careful what you use on the engine as it has painted parts. i like to cover up delicate stuff and electronics and then take a low power pressure washer to it just avoid directly hitting any seals

-i always recommend a clay bar as long as you know what your doing but dont use it unless you plan on buffing after

hope i helped a little haha

I don't know on the floormats either. I know my 04 had them when I bought it and I think my dad's 03 does too. May check parts book and see if they have a part number.

I used RaggTop for my top. Cleaner is awesome and made it look like new. Used the conditioner as well, but haven't had as much luck getting it to bead water as well as it used to. Might be how I'm putting it on or something else.

If you look in the forums further down I think there used to be a section about cleaning. Or look up "Junkman" on the forums as he has posted several tips and tricks for products he recommends using and methods to clean various components. Sounds like fairly involved professional level tips though, so some of it depends on the time/money you want to put in.

Edit: Here's a link to the detailing forum. You can spend a few hours in there reading up and watching videos. A search there on whatever you want to clean will probably get you some kind of result: http://forums.viperclub.org/forums/251-Viper-Detailing-Tips-amp-Tricks

Will second the use of RaggTop. Used that on my Miata with amazing results.

And I clay once a year before my fall wax. The difference between 'clean' paint and clayed paint is night and day.

The Nanoskin sponge is a life saver. Same results as clay but MUCH easier to use and I have never heard a bad thing said about it, even from professional detailers.

    Nanoskin Sponge

This plus a good detailing spray will make easy work of it. But be sure to watch a few videos before having a go at it. Using clay or the sponge incorrectly can be bad for the paint

Watch the Junkman2008 videos on detailing good for a few beers on their own. S100 (from the motorcycle world) works good on engine bay internals just make sure the engine is cold. Daytona Speed brush multiple sizes for wheels and hard to get spots. Autogeek.net and the Chemical Guys also good detailing sites.

Thank all. Picked up a clay kit and am going to give it a shot.

Trying to remember but I believe Dodge went to hooks later , so if someone ordered mats for an earlier Viper they got the holes in them anyway. Long time back, but just kind of remember folks thinking they got the wrong mats , but they were the only ones available.
