Have a SRT-10, 2005, and would like to run an Accusump system. Current plan is for a 3 Qts unit hidden in front of right front wheel well cover. ie Between fog lights and black plastic fender liner. Fits fine and the run is short.

BUT RATHER than a "sandwich plate" between the block and oil filter as a pickup has anyone run directly into the block??

And If so...were would that location be?

thanks

I wish I could tell you exactly how mine is installed. It is "plumbed in" but it's not a sandwhich plate. I'd call Kevin at Exotic Engine or Dan at DC Performance. They will know.

Why not pumb it into the return line of the oil cooler?

Have not checked into this but I "heard" the cooler has a valve that stops flow under certain conditions...like if the a/c is on....also might require a check valve to flow the oil the correct direction....

Now that you mention it, I think mine is plumbed into the oil cooler return line and has a check valve. Not aware of any valve on the oil cooler that would stop flow.

Best location for plubing is BY FAR the cooler lines, whatever one is most acceptable in your application... though they are not easy to plumb sometimes. There is no check valve in the cooler, and no additonal check valve is needed so long as the oil filter has an anti-drainback... and even that is overkill. you cant push oil back through a positive displacement pump to begin with. Highly advise 3Qt systems on engines of this size. Mounting can be a PITA, as that accusump is no small peice. Mounting in the rear of the car under the trunk is how we set them up when we build them.

There are going to be new developments in Viper oiling systems for SRT's once the new 08 parts hit the market, I would advise everyone to hold off for a short time until things settle down, and see where the chips fall. The new oiling system looks very promising, and it may change accusump philosophy as a result.

The only valve on the oil cooler circuit is a passive pressure bypass valve on the feed line. If you put the pressurized Accusump on the return line of the cooler circuit it sould be fine. There is NO type of active valve anywhere in the oil cooler circuit to control the oil flow during any specific condition, just a ball & spring pressure valve for cold starts.
