Adding Cd without cutting?

I want to add a Cd player to my 95. A search makes me think I can do it with a factory changer only if I do some additional wiring from front to back and punch a hole in the passenger compartment.

1) Is this the case? No way to just plug in to the factory harness and go?

2) Are any of you guys using a portable player with a car kit that plugs into the cassette slot?

I'm not a stereo freak so I have no interest right now in doing any real upgrades. Yes, I know the stock system *****.

What would be ideal would be a battery operated changer that used wireless FM modulator and a wireless remote. Just throw it in the truck change the station and go. Could then swap from car to car. Pipe dream?

Any number of after market tuners with a built-in CD player will fit and be a big improvement over the OEM unit. The Gen 1 is easier to do because there is more space behind it. Just make sure the unit has pre-amp outs. You will have to do some minor splicing. The biggest improvement comes from changing the door speakers.

Ok, anyway to put an after market head unit in without doing any damage? Just want a simple install to add CD's. Does the radio come out easy?

Your 95 is easy, most of the work is in removing the center bezel. Take a look in "My Picture Gallery". I have a picture showing you the where the captive inserts are located. That is where you pry on the bezel to remove it.

Next, the trick is to loosen the all the lower dash fasteners and slightly pull on the bottom of the dash, towards the rear, the radio can then be removed without taking out the dash.

Why don't you just get a head unit that plays MP3's? That way you have hours of music without having to have a million CD's in the car. I have 3 discs in the car which equates to over 200 songs and they're long mixes. If you still want CD's get a CD changer but with a buffer so you won't get skips every 10 seconds. The Viper suspension was not made for playing CD's.
