Hi guys,

I am more interested in making my brakes look good than having ultimate performance. Most brake mods I do will improve braking, and I will be using EBC Greenstuff. My car will not be tracked and I will hit the drag strip on occasion. I have a Gen2 and it has the stock front calipers, boring rotors, and the ugly back calipers, and rotors. I could powder coat the front calipers red and put a Viper logo on them and add some kind of slotted rotors like EBC but what would I do for the rear to make them look good. What I am looking for is a budget way to upgrade my brake performance a little, and looks a lot.

Questions?
1. What is the best way to upgrade the rears with 4 pistons and rotors, then powdercoat the front and rear red to match?
2. What is the most economical complete kit with 4 or 6 piston fronts and 4 piston rear?

Is this the impossible question?

GO PM "Tom, F&L GoR", he has the ticket when it comes to upgrading the rears. He modifies them to 40MM and I have only heard great things about them.

SnkaeOyl had a rear caliper cover that put the Viper logo on a cover plate that made the rear caliper look like a small 4 piston. Change to 2 piece slotted rotors with powdercoated hats and you could have a blingfest on the cheap!

You cannot and should not try to go to 4 and 6 piston calipers for cheap. Keep the stock system and dress it up - at least it's safe.

The rear brakes can certainly be made to work better, although the "ugly duckling" feature is a challenge.

There is a cost effective solution, as cost effective as the 40mm calipers are relative to other options, but I'd need to know how much interest there is to warrant the investment required to mass produce it.

Hopefully this thread becomes long...

Hey Tom,
I think it would be a hit. It would be a performance and appearance improvement. I am going to PM you for contact information.

Not sure when I'll do mine but am sure that I will do the same (slotted/cross drilled rotors and red calipers).

Tom is one of the best (if not the best) posters on either viper board. Thanks for all the excellent work and information Tom!

You're one of the few NY's who are not abrasive to talk to! :)

That is a cool looking rotor.
When will they be available?
It might be okay to install StopTech on the rear and add good rotors to the front.
Tom,
Let us know what you have in mind.
