Aftermarket alarm install help needed.

If I decide to install an aftermarket alarm, do I need to remove the factory security alarm module and remote entry receiver? I found the proper removal info for my 96 RT10, so that car will not be stuck in starter diable. I believe my remote entry reciever has pooped out. And I am sure a whole new alarm sysytem will be cheaper and offer my options than repairing this.

Isn't the factory alarm module part of the PCM? I'm not sure you CAN remove it.

I'm also interested about installing a new alarm system on my GenI but also would like to know if the factory alarm system needs to be removed or what needs to be done? Also would the automatic door locks be compatible with an aftermarket alarm system?
