At what age (of a child) should you turn the airbag switch on/off?

I think they should have the airbag switch off until AT LEAST the child is out of a car seat. Roughly age 4 1/2- 5 yrs. depending on the size of the child. My state I believe they have to remain in a car seat or booster seat till age 4 or a certain lbs. requirement

In California you must be more than 6 years old AND more than 60 pounds.

Depends on the size of the person and what model airbag is in the car.

Most pre 1998 airbags have way more explosion and force.

I called the D.C help line on this when I got my car. They said no rear facing car seats without the air bag off, but a booster seat raising the kids to the right height for the seatbelt and airbag does not require shutting off the airbag.
