Alarm Doesn\'t Work

Hi
I finally got my fuel pump problem solved by replacing the fuel pump relay, but noticed when I was trying to diagnose the problem that my alarm does not work. This is why I originally thought it was an alarm problem. The remote locks and unlocks the doors. The horn chirps once when you lock the car and the lights flash when you unlock. The led on the dash does nothing. If I lock the car and open the hood, nothing happens. If I sit in the car and arm the alarm and open the doors nothing happens.
I played around with the alarm reset key in the "glovebox" when the car wouldn't start. Can this disable the alarm in any way?
Could my eem be bad?
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Gary

Re: Alarm Doesn\'t Work

Hi, Gary...what you describe is exactly the same alarm symptoms that accompanied the Viper mentioned here a couple of months ago...final diagnosis was shorted (melted) upstream o2 sensor wires. The car was started, allowed to warm up, then died and would not restart...AND, the owner noted the exact same alarm situation. One must wonder about a similar problem...especially with the headers. HOPEFULLY, the owner will chime in here and tell us how he found the answer.

Steve,
I'm not sure it is the same problem, as my car is starting and running fine since I replaced the fuel pump relay. Also I have visually checked the o2 sensor wires and they look fine.
Thanks
Gary

The parallel was the inactivation of the alarm...admittedly a long shot...I was hoping to save you the $400.00+ for the EEM...sure will be interesting to see what the prblem turns out being.

Had the same problem. There are around 5 alarm points and one is not making any connection. The culprit for me was on the back hatch on the left side faceing there is a strut that keeps the rear hatch up.There is a alarm switch in the drivers side strut that may have come loose. A small screw
driver can push that sensor back in place cant remember how to tighten it but look to that strut first for the open contact,That strut has the most movement than any other
alarm point.--------------

I will check both sensors but- If I am in the car and arm the alarm, shouldn't it go off when I open the door from the inside (with no key in the ignition)? Also does the dash led ever do anything? The only time I saw it flash was when I was programming the remotes.
Thanks

As Viper Fever and Ulysses noted...open sensor may be preventing the arming of the alarm...so your fob is just a lock/unlock mechanism...I think they have a great point. Check the "back glass" and hood first.
