As many of you know, the fuel rail inside my intake manifold began to leak and was flooding the engine on start-up. I have an extended warranty which will cover the cost of a new unit, plus labor, minus my $100 deductible.

My dealership attempted to order a new one and was told that there are none available in the entire U.S. Chuck Tator was kind enough to verify that for me. Moreover, they (DC) can't even attempt to anticipate when one might become available.

So, here I sit..........

Any ideas???????????????/

Hey Don,
you should be able to pick up a used one fairly easy and seems it will be the best option to getting you on the road. I have one, just don't know if it's a Gen I or II. Call JonB (360-837-3937) or P. Sharf (1-800-338-4002). Good luck,

Mike

Hey Don, just to add to what Mike just said, you might also want to try used parts places such as: vipercarparts.com/partsrack.com/viperpartslarry.com. I'm sure one of these guys should be able to help you. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the suggestions. I have been in touch with several individuals who have used manifolds. My concern is that I will have to bear the cost of the manifold, plus shipping, when the responsibility clearly lies with DC.

As I said to Viperjay, it's implausible to me that DC cannot provide me with the part or, at very least, some idea as to when I may expect to see one.

A DC rep may be able to approve the purchase of an intake from a non DC source if they can't come up with one. I would do the pressure check first......it may not be the problem.....just like the injectors were not the problem.

Tony,

The pressure was checked and it dropped below 20 psi within 5 minutes. According to STAR, it should not drop that low for at least 20 minutes. As it was explained to me, the only way fuel can get into the intake is through a bad injector(s) or a defect in the fuel rail.

Thanks for the response......

Does your warranty cover rental? If so then get one even if you don't use it. That will put some pressure on them.

Jeff,

That was a good idea and I immediately checked my warranty. The good news is that I do indeed have a rental car allowance.

The bad news is that it will pay $30/day for up to $150!!!!!!!! If my math is correct, that's only 5 days. Clever people, these DC warranty writers.

Thanks for the response.

The $150 does not apply if DC can not supply the parts. Just went 10 day waiting on parts.

Dan,

The O rings were replaced when the new injectors were installed.

Coincidentally, I just received a call from my Viper tech. He called the DM and somehow he managed to find a new manifold and have it shipped today. Notwithstanding the long weekend, I hope to have it installed by the middle of next week.

Let me take this opportunity to thank everyone who has responded, both here and PM's, to my dilemma. As one respondent said: "It's reassuring to know that others have experienced the problem too and there is an answer".

Thanks to all.........

Don
