I have a 99 gts with 9900 miles that I just changed spark plugs on. My wire set is practically new and I used champion platinum plugs carefully gapped to .035 (they came gapped at about .055)This is the first time I have tried platinum. Plugs were never dropped and were coated with anti-seize on threads and the ceramic coated so boots would not stick or arc. Each plug and wire were done seperately to avoid mis-configureing. I could hear each boot snap on plug correctly during install but after starting engine, the check eng. light came on. Car runs great including the idle, but light is on. Misfire?? or what??

Not saying you would not recognize it, but many folks would not realize one cylinder was misfiring or not firing. It is very hard to tell on a v10. Clear the code and se if it comes back. It may just be one of those things.

It might be unrelated to the spark plug wire swap - depends on what else you did.

For instance, if you for some reason took the air cleaner off while working on the car, and started the car (even once) with the wire that goes to the sensor on the air cleaner housing disconnected, it'll set a trouble code, and your check engine light will be on until you plug in a code reader that clears the code.

And you don't even have to start the car.....if you just turn the ignition on and off it will set the code.

What plugs do you guys recommend using on a stock 01 GTS? After I take delivery of my dream car next week, I want to do this ASAP. Thanks.

For a stock engine, go with Champion RC12LYC. At $1.39 each, no need to waste your money on anything else. Gap at .035.
