Buy it. Really a great product for the price. You will "feel" the gears much more which will make for much more precise shifting. It does take a little more effort, but it's worth it believe us. You won't have problems finding gears at all.

Early,

Do you still have the stock shifter? I put in the B&M and couldn't believe the difference. Nice crisp shifts, no guessing which gear you are reaching for, and very short throw. Best mod I've done by far!

Yes, it is still stock. Maybe I need to look into a B&M. Which is the best (cheapest) place to get one?

Would you get the 3" or 4" from Detert? I keep saying I'm going to do this.

3". I still have it. I am now thinking maybe i'll install it with the Ripper and have a real short quick shifter.

I used Detert's short shaft along with the MGW 1st Strike knob. I wasn't sure which length to go with either and he sent me both and had me return the unused on along with my payment. Can't beat that deal! Almost as good as the deal I got on my power steering cap vent tube :) I ended up with the 3", though I don't run the knob quite all the way down on the shaft.

To shift the subject slightly, in a recent topic I noticed that someone mentioned upgrading with the shifter from the Competition Coupe. Does anyone have any details on that as far as performance or cost. As I recall it is available from Archer.

I have the 3" (thought that was the longest?) Rich shaft, use it with the stock 98 shift knob, works great, but was a bit hard to install - took a lot of umph to get the old one removed.
