A week and a half ago, (day before Easter) we dropped Henry's race car off a shop to get the rear frame fixed and have some modifications done to the roll cage. Well, three days later, the cage guy calls and says he's not going to be able to help us before Putnam Park (April 30, May 1 and May 2). So, we lost a valuable weekend and have to go pick up the car.
Knowing that we're screwed unless we can find the EXACT piece of frame rail that we need (and I am too cheap to buy a rear subsection for $2K +) we'll be sitting home the first VRL race of the east coast and waiting on the fabricator to build us a rear subassembly.
So, who do I call? (email actually - it was late at night....) PartsRack. Jon had purchased a wrecked car and had the exact frame rail piece I needed - upper right rear. He shipped it the same day - overnight - and charged a very reasonable price. A perfect match. It's being installed on the car as we speak - along with some other modificaitons - and we MIGHT just make it.
I'll take some pictures so you can see where we are - the car has NO BODY PANELS at all on it - including NO ROOF... the car has been completely repainted and the panels are lined up in the shop. We're trying to get it back together this weekend. It'll have a new lightweight hood (thanks Gary...), new windshield, new rear Lexan hatch and a shiny new carbon fiber GTS-R wing. I, on the other hand, am down one kidney from the eBay sale to afford all this....
And if we do make it to this race - it'll be because of PartsRack. They have what you need for your Viper - even if it's obscure!
Thanks, Jon!!!!
