I am considering picking up a set of EBC green brake pads for my Viper. I have heard there are some easy tricks to getting the brake pads off without necessarily removing the calipers. If I do have to pull the calipers, what is the easiest way to do so..?

I am used to pulling the calipers on my vette, they are a simple two bolts, both are about 15mm. I noticed when I had the wheels off my Viper, cleaning them up, that there was at least one set of what appeared to be alan bolts holding the upper portion of the rear calipers to the hub, I know these bolts are usually under a lot of torque and I wouldn't want to have to go crazy on getting them out if I don't really have to.

Nope, neither needs to be pulled. These are sooooooooooooooooooooo easy, just look at them. I would have read the manual. The pins and springs need to be taken out and the pads either pull out or fall out.

The piston on the rear brakes can be a ****** to push back in. Get the proper tool from Chuck Tator and put it in a variable speed drill.

Ack, please Chuck................ Like you ever did brakes :D :D J/K ;) I did the needle nose pliers trick and work good, but it is always better to have the proper tool for the proper job! Hey Chuck, sorry for not making it to the races last month, but if you see my drag race thread, the clutch works much better now :2tu:

Just lift the car, remove the wheel and look at how the pads are held in place. It is vary simple.
The needle nose pliers work just fine. (rears only)
Fronts, just push the pistons in.
Good Luck,
Dan

Thanks.

Another stupid question though... I am trying to keep the car looking as stock as possible, are the green part that is pictured on the back of these pads really how they come, and is that going to be showing through my calipers, especially in the rear?

I don't know, green and silver just don't compliment eachother that well... If they were red I might say okay.

How do the hawk pads compare to the EBC???
