After a VCA day last friday, PIR-Portland is 50% thru the Rose Cup Races, our biggest SCCA event drawing National racers. Speedvision coverage later, due to LeMans.........
Rocky, Terri, and Brian Angen from NorCal VCA are here, and Brian & Rocky achieved top-10 finishes despite a Father-Son on-track love-tap! GTS parts spewed.....as Pop bonked son. No horns on race cars! [Panoz-GTSs] Welcome Angens...see ya at T-hill in a couple months..........
Roger Stark's, Cardiac Racing NW '98 Viper T1-GTS (Co-sponsored by PartsRack) was undefeated last season...and continues his streak in 2001 with 2 victories today against formidable challenges by 2 Corvette Z-06s from out-of region, and a local C5. Roger's BRAKES were the "Weakest Link," and allowed the Z-O6 a lead in 4 of 24 laps. Roger led the rest...regained on lap 7 and stayed there....about a 10-sec margin at the checkers..
A later feature event had Roger AGAIN finishing in P-1 and VCA members and Pace-Car crew Cantafio and JonB sprayed w/ champagne. We had full-course=Yellow events in 6 of 7 races. BUSY! And 7 of 7 green flags........... "Batting 1000"
Seattle new VCA - ACR owner raced (Budric?) raced his "Baby Grand to a respectable podium finish as well.
Races continue tomorrow, but I am watching Lemans now and trying to decide if I want a Vivarin or a Corona!
I hope your weekend is as good as Portland's...... On MONDAY we gotta get Roger's brakes cooler, SCCA legal. PS....The ACR-RATTLERS are needed for this car....anyone wanna part with em? I need to find a 1999-2000.5 ACR-parts car.
VCA members Dick and Bob Crossley raced to respectable finishes in FM.....despite Dick's badly-broken hand from a 4X4 race 2 weeks ago. Dick sponsors worker feeds, and has the BEST beef jerky in USA... "Tillamook Smoker" in YOUR area!
Back at PIR at 0700......'I love the smell of methanol in the morning'....... Next Week: CART comes to PIR.... both Tony and JonB on Cart crew....Tony in Hot-pits and JonB on Emergency Crew. "Forced" to miss VCA regional, a 12-hour drive south. [2 big car fires put out today....one spread to grass! Both Ds OK.] You GOTTA love motorsports! I hear Gingerman was wet-wet-?
