Can I put a Gen III motor in a Gen II car?

I don't think anyone's done it. For the cost, you can easily have your gen 2 motor built to your specs and out do the gen 3.

PROBABLY HOOD CLEARANCE DUE TO MANIFOLD HEIGHT???

Not a problem with aftermarket or modified hood.
Hood I see as a very minor issue.
Any other WHY NOT's?

Just a guess but something probably needs to be modified to make the airbox fit.

Headers probably are not the same.

And maybe the bell housing and/or motor mounts.

Bottom line is anything can be done with enough money, but it comes down to it is not worth it with all the modifying required. i agree that a replacing with another GEN2 motor and modifying that would be a cheaper and better performance route.

Will a Gen2 intake bolt up to the Gen3 engine to make the swap work?

Betcha there are a bunch of brackets and fittings that aren't the same. Doesn't sound like its worth the effort?
