CATS. metal vs ceramic

i currently have randomtech hiflo cats; ceramic substrate. im thinking about "upgrading" to metal. problem is i dont want this bucket any louder. am I SOL?

i currently have belanger headers, ceramic cat (randomtech hiflo) and corsa exhaust.

Rich, you can give me a call and I will let you hear my exhaust over the phone. B&B headers, B&B catback, Randomtech metal substrate cats. Sounds good to me. I doubt it would be much louder.

are metal substrate better and for higher HP applications or should i stick with ceramic? some have said their metal cats melted?

I beleive the metal substrate cats are suposed to handle more hp than the ceramic ones. THe ceramic Randon tech I think are rated to around 650hp.

The best metal ones melted in my car and were then spit through the side pipes and into the rear muffler. Guess they are no good when you get over 850 RWHP and drive the car hard. If you're a garage queen, you should be fine!
