VCA -- I've thoroughly enjoyed my Viper, but decided to sell. I've learned a tremendous amount about my car through this website. My biggest mistake was thinking that they hold their value better than most other cars. Knowing what I know now, I should have bought a car similar to my current car in 2001 rather than a new one (for $78,000 cash). Any other original owners feel that way?

Florida,
Your car is 4 years old. So you lost 5k a year. Its about the same as driving a loaded leased Honda Accord. Thats not sooo bad.
Your selling it right when depreciation should start to slow down. The next guy will get the bargain....

No, I don't feel at all the way you do yet have the same model, year and color (exterior and interior). Assume you bought the hardtop as I did. Paid alot less than what you did, though. Best of luck in selling your viper. Believe there's more to owning a viper than just the cost to purchase - the experience, performance, etc. Afterall it is a car and cars depreciate. My two cents....

427 Cobras (the real ones) were going for $3500 used at one time...

They were expensive compared to other cars then, impractical, not much trunk space, passengers were baked by engine heat...

Hmmm ..

The car is three years old, you must have paid over MSRP? The sticker on my 02 was $75,750 with all options, unless you are including taxes/warranty.

The used car market is pretty bad right now. Couple that with the fact cars depreciate the greatest amount in the first few years and that explains your predicament.

I didn't buy it for an investment so nope, I don't really care about any loss in value. Besides, I'm certain I'll get my money back w/interest in 20 years.
