A repost from Comp Coupe Board

Jay
Well since the car is gone (out of the country) here's a little secret.
I let my friend drive it when we left Ely. I told him not to speed and I would take over in Lund. It was running on Calif DMV one trip permit.
Anyhow of course he had to race the first kid that came along.
Needless to say the the 2 cars were pulled over when I topped the hill.
I appoached the police car saying I was the owner of the black car.
He said "well do you want the good news or the bad news first?"
The good news is I won't be impounding the 2 cars. The bad news is both drivers are getting speeding tickets for 100 mph. (over 100 mph automatic trip to jail and cars impounded.) No sense talking to this guy . I couldn't even let him sit in the car. (he must have weighed 325 lbs)
I think he wouldn't even fit plus we would need a crane to get him out.
I suppose could have been much worse think the ticket cost him $325.
Never a dull moment

Wow !
YOU are the one that got away lucky.
Just imagine...your 'friend' could have gotten your baby impounded.

I hate nevada cops. I got pulled over and ticketed outside of Lund before as well. 79 in a 70 and the @$$hole pulled me over....probably cause I was the only person out there for like 100 miles

Yeah, did the good guys win?? But if they both got tickets for doing 100mph, the CC must have been caught cruising at 100, as the other car was playing catchup!!

I lived in Nevada for 13 years and can validate the problems with the officers out there. Especially in the 'back-woods' kind of areas you were in they are only used to rusty pickups and much lower speeds. His own laziness (or lack of procedural knowledge) was what most likely saved the impound/jail trip.

Long live the comp coupes!
