Hi all!!
I have a very sick 93 RT/10 here in the UK. Its running like a donkey and lacks acceleration and top speed. I just had it o a rolling road today and the BHP is well down (about 200BHP and 3500 rpm). It sounds like its missing some cylinders or just that the timing is out. I did change a coil pack last summer before I put it away for winter (the one that serves 6 pots).
We did a compression test on each of the chambers and they check out ok at about 10:1.
One thing we did find today was that all the sparkplugs were totally dry and the insulator was white (as it is when they come out of the box) - apart from Cylinder No 5. That was black and carbonated.
I have run the ignition on/off sequence to get codes and all I get is 12, 33 and 55. 12 means battery recently disconnected (which is true), 33 and 55 are normal.
I was wondering if anyone knew where (or if) I could get hold of the right cable and software for my year of car to be able to run a diagnostics test from the PCM as I think this may hold the secret. In other words, id rather see what the PCM can tell me before I go spending a fortune on parts that I may not need.

I think likely suspects migt be the MAP sensor or the Throttle Positioning Sensor - or barring that dodgy coil pack again.

Any more ideas are more than welome!! - especially if you know where I can get the software and cable. I assume the PCM would tell me more than the on/off sequence?

Oh to live near a Viper dealer!!!...........

Mine is running a bit rough at the mo fine when cold but after 15/20 mins starts to pull back and loses loads of power but then it throws code 24 (TPS) ..
when cold goes like a train....
Think the TPS is breaking down under the heat

Thanks guys. Ill give Nadine a call but from what I can see my year vehicle has the PCM connector under the hood right next to the PCM - not under the dash. I would be very surprised if hers would work. ill keep looking...

PS> Neil - I scrapped the idea of the badges. the geezer wnated to charge me £50 each to set up as a one off charge and then £5 each for the badges themselves!!

How many miles do you have on your Viper? Is your power down across the whole rpm range? Could your cats be clogged ????

The Cats is a possibility as the power is down right across the RPM range. Is it possible to clean them or do I have to buy new ones?

I'd scrap the OE cats and get some free flows, they are very cheap to buy in the US. Even if it doesn't solve your problem at least you'll be gaining a few more horses for Elvington ! and have a better exhaust note
