This past week I put in a debaffled airbox, smooth tubes and K&Ns. Didn't even back her out to test drive at the time - I've performed similar intake mods to all of my cars and pretty much knew what to expect. In other words, not a HUGE deal.

I was wrong...

Got bored tonight around midnight and headed out for a little Viperin'. Warmed her up, headed over to my lonliest stretch of deserted back road and put my foot in it. Holy hell - I'm more than a little surprised at how restrictive the stock intake setup really is in these cars! Like I said, I've performed intake mods on all of the other cars and this by far was the most noticable out of all em.

The end result - I can finally scratch 3rd gear on quick to mildly fast shifts...not even really trying! It was impossible before - and I'd made many fruitless attempts over the past 5 months (and in much colder weather to boot!)...the Pilots would just grab after a quick 2nd gear scratch and that was it. Not now. ;)

BTW, I held off on tubes and filters for so long because I thought I had tracked down a cf airbox...didn't pan out so I caved for tubes, filters and a debaffled box. Turns out, the cf box actually did pan out so I'll be able to compare both here pretty soon.

Now onto gears...

That's a nice surprise. Will be interesting to see the difference when you put on the cf airbox.

Hey, Nexus. I see you own a 2002 BMW M Coupe. I've always liked that sports car. I was wondering, since I've never been in one, and have only seen them on a street once in a while, what do you think about them? Since you still own it, I take it you like it, or am I wrong? I'm just looking for your brief opinion of it. I might get one, is why I ask. I've been doing some research on it online, but since I saw one listed in your signature I figured what the heck, why not ask?

I love my little "deuce coupe"!

(don't tell my Viper this, but the Coupe is still my favorite!)

Perfect fun little car - of course it's not fast enough but, it's plenty quick with 315hp weighing in at 2800lbs...plus the handling is ungodly...just a real full sized go-kart...(and BMW underrated the S54 Coupes and Roadsters by curtailing the redline a touch more than the 330hp S54 M3...the difference between the motors? Nothing...different ECUs and rev limits is all).

Quirky looks, handles like a dream and quick...what's not to love? ;) It'll hand the SS it's ass in the stoplight to stoplight derby...get em up over 100 and the SS will reel it back in though.

Also doesn't hurt that it's the very first one off the line (#004) for the final model year of 2002. She's a keeper.

They're getting hard to find these days - check over on roadfly.org from time to time and you might spot a nice 2001 or 2002 with low miles but they made so few of them over their lifetime that most people are holding onto em for the long term...

Thanks for taking the time to express your opinion and experience with your M Coupe. It's just as I feared - one heck of a fun sports car to own! :D I had basically come to this conclusion a while back, from reading this and that, but your comments here have cinched my overall feelings on the car.

Thanks for the roadfly.org reference. I've already been experiencing the M Coupe's scarcity online. Few for sale. No 2002 models. I guess this means no way in **** any are still for sale at a BMW dealership, huh? Which brings me to another question: When a car is referred to as untitled, does this mean that it is still waiting to be purchased for the first time; that it has never been owned by anyone?

Hah-hah. I knew somebody was going to say something about this since it kept going. *chuckle* I just couldn't pass up the chance to ask though. I should have done it via PM, I know. Won't happen again, promise. :D

VIPER, VIPER, VIPER, VIPER! There...back on track. Heh.
