Hi all - I'm new to the community and recently purchased my first RT/10 (2000). The far left gauge (temp) goes to the max once as soon as the key is turned on. I believe this is a bad temp sensor and I'm hoping someone here has replaced this and has any info on the correct part number and/or a DIY on how to swap it. I've read it's not a very difficult job (hopefully).

Thanks

IIRC it is on the driver side head at the front of the motor. I don't recall if the intake had to be removed or not, but it was a surprisingly quick job.

@white out - Thanks for replying. Do you know whether this is a specialty part, or are the many $7-$10 Amazon options no different than the $100+ sensors on specialty sites? I found this sensor, which I'm leaning towards grabbing. I figured I'd ask if this is a situation where a $10 part is virtually identical to the $100 ones. It seems that is the case a lot on these cars :)

Update: I grabbed the one in that link. Maybe I'm a sucker for overpaying, but oddly it was one of the few that guaranteed fitment with a 2000 RT/10.

Oddly, I do not remember what I paid. But $100 seems about right. If you have not replaced the fan relays, replace both first. Should be less. Keep OG relays in case yours were good as they always seem to fail over time with heat.

I've ordered from Mopar Parts Giant before. Sometimes they list a part as in stock, but you find out later that they don't have it. Rock Auto has some good deals on Viper parts. They have the sensor, but it's $117, which surprises me since it's more than Parts Giant.
