Jrkermode,
Thanks for the input, we have 6 different processes being explored as we speak and molds for various plastics are already in the works, we have our main suppliers in china working on this.

Edmonton,

After generating all this traffic and interest from being a guinepig tester I hope I get a good discount on the production plastic version when it's ready. :)

lol - good response!

Why should your hard work be sold off for free? Great job - keep it up!

BTW - not sure about what the tornado is - but if it's anything like an air swirling or straightening devise - they actually can work in some cars. It was the cheapest way I could get a correct reading on my MAP sensor after changing the intake from factory air box to open pod filter.... which always changes the air flow patterns. The device meant I could run another 3lb boost without leaning it out - a lot cheaper than upgrading the fuel system. My tuner simply said try it - it's worked before - but if it doesn't work, we'll take it out..... just like you did - can't be fairer than that.

Vipah,

_____________
I'll bet we can find someone to make these in reasonable quantities for about $60. Heck, we can have them done in China out of Stainless Steel for about $10!
-----------------------

It is for people that think like this that we filed a patent app, copyrighted the design and trademarked the name.
Also, I presently manufacture over $20M a year worth of merch in china every year so tell me all about it!

oops - my above post was a reply to this one... I got lost in the posting techo stuff.... ;)

After running into heavy rain I ducttaped my hood opening shut as I was getting some engine misfire. I thought it was my imagination but after the second tank of gas I was down to 19 to20 mpg instead of 24 to 25 mpg on longer trips. I then took off the tape as it had stopped raining, and the mpg went back to 24=25 again, Proved to me there is not enough air getting through the duct to feed the engine properly. I have since made my own extra air inlet but will pruchase a plastic inlet when available.

Hmmm, now that's an interesting discovery.

What car are you averaging 24-25 mpg with? If it is a Viper you must drive it like a grandma. Doubtful you are overusing any air supply at levels of acceleration that get 24 mpg. Hell, I have been driving Vipers for almost a decade and even on long trips I have never come close to 24 mpg. 20 to 21 is the best I have ever gotten with pure freeway driving at cruising speed. The norm is more like 14 mpg. With the SRT I haven't been able to get beyond 12.5 mpg. Thirsty little devil!

...Sounds like you already had a misfire problem in the ignition during the 2 tanks worth of blocked NACA duct driving you did, and wet weather driving itself may have cut your mileage. When you taped up the hood duct your airbox was primarily getting warm air from the outer sides of the airbox adjacent to where the NACA duct guides air into the airbox. I don't see how taping your hood opening shut sheds any data on how well the opening admits air. It only shows that whatever was left to admit air after you CLOSED the duct may not have either been enough(though how much pedal/cfm would you be using in the rain??), or the engine may not have like the superheated radiator air. You can't seal a hole and then conclude it doesn't pass enough air...
