F/R Gen1 Shock Difference

I'm trying to tell the difference between the front and rear shocks on a '95. These are the stock Konis with stock springs and stock ride height. I had thought the longer of the shocks are the rears. Howevwer, they appear to be too long to get on the rear. Even at full droop on the rear suspension, i.e. no shock bolts, the shock is too long. I can get the shorter one on, but it doesn't seem like the longer will fit the front. Any ideas?

I've got a set of track setup shocks and was planning on swapping with my stock ones for an easy track/street swap. It seems faster to swap the shocks than to try and adjust the ride height with the shocks on the car.

On my Gen 1 the rubber bushings in the upper and lower a-arms keep them from full droop when not having the shock attached. I have a long bar that I place through the lower a-arm (inside end under frame, outside end coming through the "A") and I sit on the end to lower the lower a-arm while installing shocks.

The fronts are 17" eye to eye P/N 8240 1109
The rears are 18" eye to eye P/N 8240 1110

Thanks. I was able to check the PN. I had the right one. Sounds like I need a persuader bar. At least that extra 30lbs I'm carrying will be useful. :)

Did you ever get your bushing issues resolved?

I created more shims from Home Depot washers. Not the most accurate method, but it seems to have worked. The upper rear A-arm bushing was so loose that I could move the A-Arm back and forth on the bushing by hand on the car. If I understand correctly, those bushings are press fit. I got it aligned and took it out to the track this weekend. It held nicely. That odd 'wandering' I was feeling on heavy braking was gone. I guess that A-Arm movement was part of that.
