Wanted to say thank you to the members who planned our drive over the weekend. It was evident they put considerable work into planning the route, stops and meals. As usual spending time with friends new and old made it very enjoyable! There are some pictures on the MCVO facebook page.

Last week Barb and Gary Scrivens, owners of The Wharf Restaurant, dropped into the office to tell us that the Motor City Viper owners Club would be visiting the village and having lunch at the Wharf. Gary said they have been working hard this year to attract tours from far and wide through email blasts and other promotion. The club has 167 member cars that come from several of the northern states as well as Ontario. I thought maybe a half dozen cars would appear in the parking lot but when I visited the Wharf on Saturday morning there were more than 50 members of the club and 25 Viper cars that took up most of the parking area.
They made for an impressive display of Detroit heavy metal. According to club president Jess Hackney the club was on their annual fall color tour.
The tour usually takes in some of the spectacular scenery in the northern US but this year tour coordinator John Guyitt, who lives in Ridgetown, suggested a first time trip to South Western Ontario. According to John the tour would continue after lunch to various local tourist spots including Winter Wheat, Rush Creek Wines and Sparta Candles.
For those who thought that a Viper was a nasty looking, venomous snake, with big fangs, you’re right. But it is also a high performance, sports car built by the Dodge division of Chrysler in Detroit Michigan. Production of the sport car began in 1992 and it comes with a 6-speed manual transmission. To give you an idea of cost a 2010 Viper is listed at around $80,000.
For car buffs, it has a 550 hp V10 cylinder engine that can push this car much faster than any posted speed
limit. Several models of the car were parked in the Wharf lot with a variety of paint colors and body styles.
Together they looked quite spectacular and drew many people off the street for a closer look.
