Here's my center console with the relocated window switch and cigarette lighter to make room for boost, A/F, & Fuel pressure gauges.

My friend fabricated it out of ABS. I also have 2 small buttons on the side of the remote base connected to my garage door opener.

In case you can't see the cigarette lighter. It's now located under the remote facing forward. I figured I may need the power plug for something.

I love all this custom fabercation!

Was the piece molded or just cut?

He cut it out from a paper template then bent to match the curve of the center console.

I'll ask my friend. He used to own his own shop. He's done stuff for Latrel Spreewell and Glen Robinson. I'm guessing $500 for a pair not including the speaker driver. You'll have to pick your speaker first. 4" or smaller so it doesn't crash into the hinge.

Clean install? Yes. Clean look? No. Sorry, I don't like it. The gauges are breaking the line of the fake CF surround (which I never liked anyway). The area around the shifter seems to overhang way too much. The raised remote/switch surround clashes with the lines of the shifter edge and e-brake edge. Also it seems it might come in the way of 6th gear (I use it). And that dang remote. My $0.02.

Well a lot of the layout was dictated by ergonomics and not styling. I had to relocate the window switch so the natural place would be closer to my hand. The shifter opening is just right. The overhang is because of my picture angle and it doesn't crash into any gear position.

Keep in mind this is obviously NOT OEM. The stock piece has push clips which pull it tight to the rest of the trim which is impossible to replicate without creating a new mold. We did 3 trial fittings and the gaps are actually better than stock.

Come on, we all know it is for the back seat passengers so that they can watch a movie during boring drives :)

Nice work but IMO the gauges are in a completely useless location. You can't possibly see them when your driving which is kinda the idea isn't it???

This is how we did it in a truck.

I thought about the locations a lot. The A-pillar blocked some vision. I didn't want to fabricate an entire front dash. I didn't want to remove the passenger air bag either. So I was basically left with what you see.

BTW the reason why I have to have a remote is so I don't take my eyes off the road. With so many functions on the head unit I can find it with my hands just by feel. So it's not because I'm lazy :p

Tom one advantage the A pillar method provides is fewer Mustangs and the like trying to race. Once they see the gauges they know either supercharger, turbo or NOS and they realize it is hopeless. At least that is my experience so far.

Ron,

I usually try not to waste my time (or fuel for that matter) with the 'stangs, WRX, Cameros, etc.

Anyone who needs to move the window switches might consider replacing them with some other kind of switch.

You don't really need that big oem rocker switch. There are plenty of smaller switch types that could be used. Some are very compact.
