For Canadian members...Gas Guzzlers Tax when importing?

I was thinking of maybe importing a SRT10 Viper from the US into Canada... I read that there is a gas guzzlers tax for cars using more than 13L average...does this tax apply to all vehicles imported into Canada or are used vehicle from pre-2007 exempt from this tax? Apparantly it is between $1000 and $4000...wow. And I'm sure the Viper has a real bad average fuel rating. Anyways, it would be nice to hear from those who have some experience with this. I have imported a 06 Viper and a never paid any gas guzzler tax, All we paid was the GST at the border and the importing fee of, I think it was about $249.00 and that was it.

Ya same here, imported from US, paid $100 for excise tax on air conditioning, GST on purchase price, and $185 to the RIV to handle the import paperwork.

No gas guzzler tax till newer models, like 08 I think.
