Guys, a very good friend of mine just finished tuning his roe blower set up, and he is a little down on power.
Here are his mods:

True 10 lb. Pulley, water/****. Injection, Roe heads, 1.7 roller rockers, balenger headers, borla exhaust, 70 mm Throttle bodies, and air box. The Car does have the high flow cats, and he thinks this might be causing some of the power loss.
His numbers SAE corrected with 96 deg. Dyno room temps are:
602 rwhp and 640 rwtq. with ZERO DEg. Timing RETARD (stock timing)

He is in the process of eliminating the high flow Cats, and re-dynoing the car on cooler temps and when the motor is not heat soaked to see if the numbers improve.

Is there anybody out there with this same set up that can share some Numbers for comparison?
Looking for someone with the High Flow Cats, or someone that can share power gains on this set up after removing the High flow Cats.

Thanks!
JC

about 8 - 9 months back someone on here had the same exact issue and they changed to B&B headers from the belangers and picked up over 90RWHP and over 100RWTQ from what they say.

Also I would have spend a few hours on the dyno for some Vec 2 tuning with a really good tuner.

You could also try removing the cats too see if it yeilds any gains.

he is defnitly down on power because my car with my mods (no heads/cam/blower/water/****) has slightly over 600 RWTQ, so hes got about 37 TQ more then I do and about 50 horse more then I do and spent and spent about $11K MORE then I did, not to mention all my mods are from Roe racing as well, and Roe blown cars with those mods are making almost 800 at the wheels (some are making over 800 at the wheels)

Hope this helps

Good luck

If he's got Roe heads he's way down on power. I dynoed 668/727 with stock heads, Edelbrock headers and RT cats. What's the AFR. Maybe too rich when spraying or plugged cats. That 96 deg temp can't help.

The numbers I listed are off the N2O.(775/827 with 200 shot on the bottle)
His AFrs are 12.0:1 and he has no timing retard or advance from stock on the blower + water ****. tune.
Tuning was done with VEC 2 by a reputable tuner that has done a few of these set ups.

Cats are Random Tech. high flow with less than 1000 miles.

That very well may be your problem. The extra heat/fuel generated by the sc unit may have disintegrated the substrate in the cats; they melt down and restrict exhaust gases from exiting the exhaust pipes. You can do a quick inspection by placing your hand behind the tail pipe and feel if the exhaust flow appears to be adequate... Naturally, you can remove the cat for observation to conclude a definitive answer.

Best of luck and tell your buddy I said hi!

Doug, he did pick up 175 rwhp with dual .052 jets (200 hp) over his blower numbers. Does that sound about right?, or is than an indication of air flow problems?
I've always heard how a 50 shot on a Blower car yields 100 rwhp or so. In my friend's case it took a 200 shot to show a 175 rwhp and 200 rwtq gain...
Anybody with N2O on a Roe blower that can share some gains on the juice vs. the N2O jet used?
Thanks!

What Doug said! As I have stated, my passenger side cat disintegrated....had to have been some time ago because I have had a heat problem on that side for a while. Both cats have been replaced under warranty, with some bullet cats with metalic substrates. Kinda bums me out since the whole trip to Heffners was a wasted trip as far as the dyno runs go. :( Got a bunch of other stuff done at the time....but all of my numbers mean squat at this point because that cat was PLUGGED at the time.

I would think that the heat of the side sills would be a good pointer...based on my experiences. Is either (or both) side extremely hot? I'm talking hot enough to blacken the paint, or melt the plastic trim on the inside of the door jam? Following a very short, but spirited drive last night I was happy to notice that I could, once again, put my hand on each side sill (specifically the passenger side) and hold it there. Warm to hot...but no burning. Power was noticeably stronger.....but then again I did change the pullry from 8 to 10! :)

Keep in mind that the Cats are brand new with less than 1k miles on them, and these miles have been on motor only . The CATS have only seen the blower on few dyno pulls , that's it!
It is hard to beleive they would go bad so soon. If they are in working order, can they still cause a restriction on his set up?
We'll know soon enough as the cats will be taken out early this week.
I'll keep you posted!

Thats what I keep saying, though......my cats were installed with the SC 4 months ago, had a drive down from NY, one drive to the Crab Feast, and then normal poser-miles around town. I started it up after vacation following some changes to the water/**** tubing and new plugs.....as it was idling on the lift I noticed off-white flex coming out the passenger side tail pipe. Mind you, I have had BAD heat issues on that side for a couple months. Waiting to hear..... :)
