Gen 1 Aluminim Radiator

I contacted Davis Radiator in Arizona today regarding an
aluminum radiator for my early 93 RT. I've been wanting one but couldn't find a supplier. Fluidyne doesn't make one
for the early cars and wasn't interested in building one.
Davis said that they have a drop in, direct fit, radiator for the early cars. They also said that in the event there was a fit-up
question, I could send them my oem unit and they would custom build one. I don't want to quote their price but it was very reasonable. Thought some other gen 1 owners might want to know about this.

Did temp. drop much in your 95 with the alum. rad.? How much was it?

I put in the Fluidyne aluminum radiator and a '00 fan in my '93. The radiator was made for a GenII and the overflow outlet tube would hit the hood bracket when closed which finally broke it off. I put on a brass 90 degree fitting in the hole and it works great. The fan shroud bolt holes had to be elongated to fit.

I found that at the track in the middle of summer the temp was rock solid at 190 (needle straight up). Before the upgrade I would get 3 laps before having to do a cool down lap. Now all I have to watch is the brake rotor temps.
In traffic around town the temp does sneak up to about 220, then the fan comes on and the temp is almost instantly back to 190.

I also have an aluminum radiator in my Gen 1 C&R racing direct fit and I have the exact same situation as SlayTray, except even in traffic I do not climb over 200. I also have an upgraded water pump, which did not make a big difference until I installed the radiator. On a cool day or night (under 75 degrees) running a closed track (you know we have a lot of these in Texas) my car won't even hit 190, I have run close to three hours and barely touched 190.

PartsRack has a small run of G-1 Radiators being built (at Davis) right now. Our VCA price will likley be even lower, and WAY less than Fluidyne MSRP.
