I will be purchasing a viper within a year (hopefuly). I want a 96+ GTS coupe. What is a good price for one of these used mechanical marvels? I know milage can varry greatly, but given average "weekend" driving, what sort of rough estimate am I looking at?

Also, this car would be a semi daily driver/ weekend car. After reading the FAQ, would any other GTS owner like to comment on this? How do you like taking your car distances, city, etc. for this type of weekly routine.

I'll most likely have to sell a few of my other cars to make room, the viper will have to live in the garage all by it's self

I was looking at a 97' GTS Blue w/ White stripes and 13,000 miles as perfect as you could expect to find and it was for sale for a while at 50K. I don't know if it is sold but several people looked at it but market, wives, etc. kept it from being sold. I would be sporting it now but the stripes were too much for my wife to handle so if you see a solid black or silver clone in that price/milage range please let me know. I an ready to jump if I find one.

I would suggest looking at Ebay and the autotrader online and you will get a good feel for the various prices and mileage! And as usual, timing will play a part, as you never know when a great deal will be out there.
Make sure you do your research on each Viper you consider purchasing. Read up on this board, as many very experienced, knowledgeable people have given great advice on what to do when buying a used Viper.
Best of luck!!

Do your homework first!

96 aren't collectors car YET!! I wouldnt' pay over 50k for a decent mileage one.

I would go up a couple to a few grand per year after that..
I bought my 98 GTS w/ 5k miles for 55k. MINT condition, 1 owner

I have a 97 Blue and White GTS. Extended warrenty and all! I REALLY need to sell the car. 10,800 miles, great condition, all records, etc... I love it but bought a 2000 and can't keep both

Let me know, its also in the classifieds.

Thanks,
Ken

As far as the daily driver aspect of it. I drive mine as a daily driver. I have a Suburban that I use periodically only if the weather is really bad. When it gets slippery outside you kind of lose the Viper advantage since the rear end kind of slips a little.

Otherwise I think its a pretty comfortable car for daily driver.

The only problem is when your sitting at a stop light and you realize everyone is looking at you. You wonder what's wrong and then you realize you're in the Viper.

Some people complain about the rough ride and the wandering effect of the front end on irregular road conditions. If you drive it as your daily driver after awhile you don't notice it at all.
