My 2004 Mamba came only with 1 key.

I need to make/get a spare key for it. Im looking for the the least painful or least expensive way to do it.

The car has a key with a seperate remote and is not integral. I believe all 2004 vipers had the same key.

Any Dodge dealer can get you a remote and code it to your car

"Viper head" key blanks are avail but spendy....nothing special about a hardware store universal blank

The deal wants $15 for the blank key
$70 for the remote
$50 for the key cutting and programming.
So thats $135 for 1 key/remote combo.
Is that what i should expect to pay?

This is what I wanted to do instead - NEW JEEP CHRYSLER DODGE KEY KEYLESS REMOTE ENTRY FOB: eBay Motors (item 280538844307 end time Oct-21-10 15:09:31 PDT)

They say "free programming" etc.. at $22

The viper keys dont have a chip in them, you can start the car without the remote. The blank Gen 3 keys are cheap from dodge. If you want a remote the computer in the car will have to be programed for it. You would need a scan tool to do this.
