got any idea\'s how to tighten my bottle valves ? ? ? and PICS...

just got them back from the powdercoater and the guy did NOT tighten them in fear of hurting the bottle or anything else.. i need to turn another 1/4" to be where it was when they were taken off the bottles. but im afraid i cant put a pipe wrench on it and i cant hold it tight enough, i tried a strap wrench and it kept slipping on me.

anyone got any ideas how to tighten the bottle valve on a freshly powdercoated bottle?

here is how they came out.

I would call the company that the bottles are from. Definitely don't use teflon tape on them. They use a speacial thread sealer.

Looks like your getting ready for Tobayfest...

You could try the old power steering pulley removal technique:
Using an old v-belt or serpentine belt, place the belt around the bottle ( or pulley) and squeeze the belt as tight as possible in a vise. There you go, bottle or pulley will not move if you have the belt tight enough. Since your bottles are powder coated, I would feel safe with this method as long as they Do Not spin.

got them tightened up now..

only one smaller gouge in the top neck on one of them. but i figured it would happen and planned on it and made sure it would happen in a spot NOT to obvious.

all is good now.

but the place where i have a permit to fill them ran outta nitrous, i gotta wait till tuesday nite now..:(

There should be a plastic gasket between the valve and the bottle. You do not want to tighten the valves too much or you will mush the gasket. I used to be able to get a large crescent wrench on my valves, protected with some tape, and then just hold the bottles by hand. I also used to run two gaskets between the bottle valve nut and the valve for the smae reason, if you tighten them too much the gasket will get damaged.
