Got my first Speeding Ticket in the Gen III

Well I just got my first Speeding ticket for doing 48 in a 35
I had all green lights off the interstate so I was just letting her cruz on though town. Saw the cop but it was too late when the lights went on. So now my $162.00 contribution I make to the commonwealth of Kentucky will get framed and put on the wall of the garage. Ohh yea the friendly cop handed me my liscence back with the "Nice car" line. So I think I will be buying a Valentine radar Dectector soon!

Ohh yea don't anyone here give me crap about letting this be a lesson. A ticket is hardly a lesson in throttle control.

My mouth would have gotten the better of me and I would said:

"She'll do 192, but I was really trying to be safe out here....I guess I fell a little short of perfection....Ever driven one of these?"

I think you showed exceptional throttle control of course this is from someone who got a 108 in a 45, now that's a lesson on a Valentine if there ever was one. Of course I bought the Valentine before I paid the ticket !

Unfortunately in Maryland we have speed cameras. I don't think a radar detector will help.

Wow, Shandon, you really restrained yourself--you ''''only'''' went 48 in a 35????!!! Hopefully NO points on the license for you....been there, done that...only 97 in a 65, and given a ticket for failure to put 4-ways on when pulled over!!! (great cop!)

What absolutely defies all logic, is that they have provided a list of all the areas where the speed cameras are stationed and what speeds will trigger a citation (11mph over posted) in Rockville.

I assume they have listed these locations so that offenders will curb their speeding in these specific blocks, but I find this entire campaign to be a waste of tax payer resources. $40 and no points is hardly a deterrent to most. This is akin to the sobriety testing they perform when they feel it necessary to post the locations and times in the newspaper. MD is indeed an odd state when it comes to their motor vehicle dealings.

Maryland probably has to inform the public where they are or it may be considered a speed trap or breaking some other Maryland law.

The purpose of the cameras even if every single person in the state knew exactly where they were is to insure people are not speeding through those areas, like you said. But even if the ticket was only $40, I bet you wouldn't speed past knowing it was there.

Ohio only has traffic light camera's if someone runs it. Long debate about those. Some say it causes people to slam on the breaks to early to avoid 'maybe' going through red, and thus increases rear end collisions. The other side says, it's ok because those collisions aren't nearly as bad as side impact collisions caused by running a red light.

13 over? Beginner! I'm not sure about your state, but in GA unless its 15mph+ over, there's no points, so you're insurance can't increase. I honestly believe cars like vipers should get special benefiets when it comes to speeding tickets. These cars are completely different from DD's. They are harder to keep below the speedlimit and the cops should recognize that. 150mph in a 25mph zone is still too much, but honestly 20mph or less over the speedlimit is acceptable IMO. A friend of a friend got a speeding ticket for 74 in a 40 over Memorial Day weekend. That one is gonna hurt!

Ordinarily, I would agree with you, however, in Rockville, these areas are already identified as speed traps. I travel a couple of these roads pretty frequently and even before the speed cameras were put in place, you would find police sitting there running radar every single day.

What I find funny is that before the speed cameras were put in place, I was actually travelling slower through these areas because police would pull you over for less than what these speed cameras will ticket you for. In most cases, 11mph over the limit (35 -40 mph in most of the noted areas) is pretty quick through those residential areas.
