Found these pics and a great link. Some of you may have seen them before, but always cool to look back. Enjoy:

Brings back memories.
LOL :D

WHAT memories Tiger? Were'nt you still in diapers in 1989?

Keith wasn't in diapers in 1989 but I sure as hell was! :D

BTW what was the orignal dates when the viper concept was first a plan and when was it first shown at Detroit?

Too bad they moved the coil packs, while the engine bay looks better with them behind the intake, having them mounted over the valve cover would have saved some skin off my knuckles.

It wasn't until 10 years later that I got to work (Design / Engineering training & support) at the Viper group on Featherstone Rd. for about a year. They let me bring this yellow one home on the weekends as well as the Prowler which was cool of them. Here's an old pic back in 2000. I was probably one of the few who actually enjoyed giving them a bath, you know.. heck if I could bring Claudia Schiffer home for a weekend I'd give her a bath too, well.. :p

That's not a viper engine or even a viper for that matter. You can clearly see the blue front fender, coolant bottle, and cowl of a Ram 2500 in this shot. The original viper concept had a modified V8. About the only things the Ram V10 and Viper V10 share is the V10, 488cid, and transmission mount.

Nice link though.

i was going to put that pic in the registry as soon as i saw it, but i agree with bonkers, something doesnt look right there.

all the early viper body pics that we have and that i have seen, are red in color, including 1989, pacifica, and VM-02. all the body pics we have and that i have seen of VM-01 are white in color. the 1991 prototype engine looks nothing like this.

that fender looks blue. that intake looks "production", and alot like a small block 5.0 ford intake. looks more like a pic of a v10 motor in a pickup to me too, especially because of the angle of the shot. the engine bay looks too roomy, and just wrong to be a viper.

the engine compartment looks too production. numerous stickers and tags can be seen. does anyone know if the prototypes had AC? i dont think they did. it looks like this one does.

also, isnt that a "trans fluid" dip stick? this engine has an automatic tranny, right?

why too are these the only pics without "viper-related corner verbage"?

what is with the big "E" on the valve cover? doesnt look like the typical "dodge" font to me.
