Was the GTS ever offered from the factory in the red with white racing stripes combo? if so, what years? if not, is it difficult to add the stripes?

thanks!

Lawboy I know 1998-2001 had a red with "silver" stripe combo (dont remember if 97 had the silver stripe option)
dont think white was available on the red cars
You could put them on my car its a 4300 mile red one that would look great in your garage (with or without stripes)

There was a WHITE stripe option in '97... and I KNOW I saw a '97 at Lime Rock Vintage Race weekend that had that option... but, we have yet to have any visitors of this board admit to have found a siting of this beauty!

reddog: is your '98 for sale? i'm in the market for a 97 blue with white stripes or 98-99 red. email me at [email protected] with the specifics.

Mr. Houss: I'm guessing by your remarks that the illustration in your sig line is not of your car. Have you seen people add white stripes? What combo (year/paint) do you have?

My avatar is a '01 Red/silver (which I am the proud owner of).

The '97 Red/white stripe is truly a "Loch Ness" species. Our dear friend and ex-plant manager John Hinckley says none left the factory that way..... but I could've sworn I saw one, and there have been a few more sightings. I'd love to be able to show John a Window Sticker from one!

If you have not done so yet, talk to Bill Pemberton at Woodhouse Dodge, click on icon at top of page. Bill is a very unpushy and VERY KNOWLEGABLE guy re Vipers. Can deliver to your door, has used and new and they do some of the finest paint work around, they add stripes that are nicer than factory as they clear coat the hood over the stripes, this is not done at factory. I'm just a satisfied customer. Ask around on this board re Bill, you will get great references!

<FONT face="Comic Sans MS">For those that have an interest on how the factory (ASC actually) adds the stripes:

"The panels are completely painted with the base color and cleared, the stripe is then applied and the paint is lightly scuffed (not to primer). The stripe only is then painted with the base color and cleared, after the baking process the stripe is lightly sanded with 2500 grit paper and polished."

p.s. D/C has a specification for the stripe ridge. From the factory at least, it is designed to be there.

Best color combo ever not made. I have been considering doing the same thing to mine.

Joe, I searched long and hard to try and find that Red with White. I think it must have been after market stripes.
