Header install, how hard?

Is the header install on a GenII something a guy could do in his own garage with basic tools? I installed the long tubes on my Z06 on my own, but when I had a Cobra, the whole K-member had to be removed for a header install.

What's involved in the GenII header install?

There is alway some difficulty, the space is very tight. On my Viper it took 2 hours to install the header on the passenger side and 8 hours on the driver side .... I had to use a template for the exhaust ports to match the headers shape with a wood hammer.

So, sounds like your headers didn't fit correctly? Seems like a seperate issue. What brand are they?

Did you have to do anything crazy like remove suspension bits or jack up the motor?

I did my B&B, random tech cats and random tech muffler, all that in about 8 hours with a few people to help. It was pretty straight forward.

Belanger fit well, hardest thing is to stop cutting your hands when removing original header heat shields .

I would first decide on which Headers you want then ask about the install for that type specifically as there is a bit of difference between the different brands and I assume your car for the install will be the '97 GTS? MGH

In my book, money well spent for someone with the right equipment & tools to do the job for you and save yourself some hassle. No telling what you will tear up, especially if you have big hands.
