What is the secret to replace the front headlight bulbs? I have removed the 3 back wing nuts and the rear cover still refuses to come off. Is it necessary to remove the fender inner panel?? Any help here would be appreciated.

Yes, inner fender panel. Lubricant the plastic threads before attempting - they will break off in the metal thread inserts. I (had to) replace mine with allen head screws and fender washers.

A1998,
Their are 6 black plastic hand screws to be removed, 3 on top and 3 under where the tire is, remove the front plastic fender well panel then remove the wing nuts on the back of the light panel and pull panel off, it can be tough to pull off but it will come off.

Thanks Guys! Appreciate your help

Didn't realize changing these would be such a hassle. Plus it's been a hassle buying the new Silverstar Bulbs. I think some guys are buying the 9005 bulb which is a high beam bulb and putting them in the low beam socket. No wonder they can see better. Sylvania listed my bulb as a 9006 when it is actually a 9011. Somebody's catalog is off somewhere.

My '96 RT/10 has HIR (9011) High beams and 9005 low beams. I have read that some Vipers came with the HIR high beams and some with the 9005 High beams. My '96 factory shop manual lists 9005's for the High and 9005's for the low beams. The parts man at the local Chrysler dealer confirmed the 9011's although he says that Chrysler no longer carries the 9011 replacements. Interesting reading on the HIR bulbs. A little brighter for the same wattage than 9005's for a lot less than HID's. The HIR's are in the middle. Developed by GE (which are my bulbs) and only produced by them for 1.5 years then sold the equipment to Toshiba which produces an improved (more reliable) version today. I found a set of 9011's on EBay and purchased them from a guy in Washington state (they are Toshiba). From what I have read on the internet if they are not Toshiba and claim to be HIR then stay away as they are phonies. A Google search turns up some good info on HIR bulbs, I thought I knew about most bulbs but was surprised by these. MGH

While we're on the headlights, how do you adjust them up and down? My left one seems a touch low...

how do you adjust them up and down?

1. Remove the back cover of the headlamp assembly.
2. The up/down adjustment screw is about in the upper center of the assembly..turn to achieve desired angle.
3. The left/right adjustment screw is on the left-side middle of the headlamp assembly.

Hope that made sense.

Neil...Fog lights are easy...Just turn your wheels in on the side your doing as far as it goes to gain access, pull the big rubber plug off the front fenderwell, Reach in, peel back the rubber seal on the back of the lamp... there is a wire clip that releases and hinges back. Once released the bulb will come right out. pull the bulb out to you which makes it easier to unhook power wire...Note when reinstalling new bulb it has a square cutout and a oval cutout on it...Make sure the square cutout goes to the top....hope that helps...AL
