Help with gas pedal

My gas pedal fell off today. I was able to figure out how it goes back on and hook up the spring but I think the pin may need to be pressed in more so it does not come apart again. Is that pin a pressed fit into the bar it hooks onto? If so how do you get it pressed in further so it does not work itself loose again. Right now the end is flush with the side of the pedal and I think it should come through another 3/8".

Apparently I am not the first but I could not find any fixes for it.

I really think that pin needs to be pressed into the bar it connects to but am not sure how to do it. I may need to look for a small nut and bolt if it comes off again.

Try a small nut and bolt. That is what one of the club members did. I replaced mine with an aftermarket one.

This can be an all new excuse of losing a race. Instead of "I missed 3rd gear" Viper owners can now use "my gas pedal fell off".

It happened to my GTS. It was a few years back and I think I bought a new peddle and simple pressed the cap back on with a large pair of pliers. But I did drive it for a few days with just the brace.

As I recall, the L that holds the peddle seemed to lean down away from the brake peddle and therefore putting extra pressure on the end cap. It never came off again after that.
