How much hp can a stock gen 2 viper transmission take? Is there a difference between the gen1,2 and 3 transmissions?

the tremic t-56 is one of the strongest trannies around. if you abuse it(miss shifts etc), you will need to rebuild. but these things are good for a ton of power. 1000hp+ easily. if you dont beat the [******] out of it & if you do, rebuild it with some beefed' components.

Well they seek out the T56, but majority of the time it's NOT the Viper tranny. While the Viper T56 has the highest tq rating it's output shaft doesn't allow the crossover to other make engines. Most T56's you see in Street Rods are GM T56 (whcih are Identical minus the beefy Viper output shaft). Believe me if the swap was easy I'm install them instead of the GM units in customer's cars.
