4 years ago I broke my transmission on my 2000 ACR. The tranny had only 8000mi. The technician of the tranny shop, that repaired my tranny, told me that my gears were fried likely because of the poor quality of the oil. He told me the oil that he removed was in very poor shape. Since I was running my tranny on Amsoil oil.
Yesterday I decided to change the tranny oil in my 2006 coupe. The Viper wasn’t shifting well after the long winter. My Coupe has also 8000mi. Guess what … the oil wasn’t looking good at all. I had the impression to drain the oil from an Abraham tank that spent 2 year in the desert without oil change. I don’t know what the factory fill is but it doesn’t resist wide temperature changes very well. The Amsoil after 2 years still looks like new …
