Love the car and the color. Also had the Mopar carbon fiber dash panel installed which adds some variety to the interior.
It was pretty intimidating to drive the car for the first time; as I was driving home I could see the hot air shimmering from the hood vents in the cold December air. And the sound . . .yikes. I was driving pretty slowly in the middle lane in order to respect the break-in procedure but even so I have never had other cars move out of the way like this before. Had to fill up the car on the way home (Chevron 92 of course) and every single gas attendant and a few other customers instantly surrounded the car.
(1) Manual on page 174 recommends Mobil 1 SAE 0W-40 synthetic motor oil (for "aggressive" driving). The Viper tech at my local dealer provided me with two quarts of Mobil 1 Supersyn 15w-50 motor oil. The Viper tech at my dealer is extremely knowledgeable so I am wondering if he has some more more recent information. Otherwise, I would prefer to stick with the owner's manual recommended oil. Do people buy Mobil 1 Supersyn 0w-40 or some other brand of Mobil 1 synthetic?
(2) Regarding the maintenance Schedule -- A or B. It seems that most cars fall into the B category (oil changes and check every 3 months or 3,000 miles versus 6 months/6,000 miles for the A schedule. While I anticipate that my car is borderline and would not be driven under extreme conditions, do most folks err on the side of caution and go with the B schedule?
(3) On the way back from the dealer, at low speeds and in stop and go traffic, I noticed that the car would occassionaly "buck" pretty hard when coasting or applying light throttle? Is this normal?
(4) the dealer tried to sell me the 7 year/50,000 extended warranty for $2,399. Is this worth it on this car? Does the Viper's repair and maintenance get pretty expensive after the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty period?
Thanks for your input.
