There is a thread started by "luc" in 2007 explaining how he modded his window switches to amber LEDs but he didn't say where he got them. All I can find in the way of bulbs won't handle more than 3 volts supply power! Anyone know where 12 V amber 3mm bulbs can be had?? I PM'd him, but got no response. Thanks, Art

Answered my own question. I can use 3 volt bulbs with 510 ohm resistors.

With an operating voltage of 13.5 and Vf of 3.0, 510 ohms would give you exactly 20ma. I don't know what LED you are using, I assume that it is white or blue based upon the forward voltage. 20ma is typical for most low power indicators. A 1/4 watt resistor is sufficient for this application.

Another thing to think about, LED's are at least 20x brighter now then when they were initially put into the car. You might find that 20ma will be way too bright so experimentation to set the proper level may be necessary.
