Lost control today....

...that would make twice in the past year. I figured something was wrong when I was perpendicular to the flow of traffic, yet still moving WITH the flow of traffic. It's amazing how much can happen in a few seconds. I barely remember it honestly and it was just a few hours ago. Finally regained control of car and THOUGHT I hit the curb on the right side of road, but couldn't see any visible damage on body or wheels. Trippy. The way it happened was I was making a left from a light(no one in front of me), and I almost never give it too much gas while going into a turn. I went to switch lanes and *SWIFFFF* I was sideways. I left some real pretty graffiti on the road though. Any ideas on some better tires, non-track, non-drag for better traction than the stockers? That incident had me gun-shy the rest of the day driving, not to mention the entertainment I gave everyone on that road and managing not to cause a pileup...sheesh!

the "curb" you thought you had hit may very well have been the tires just "grabbing" the ground again. A couple times I have been screwing around and slid sideways... if you let off the gas and there is good contact with the ground, at times it can almost feel like hitting a wall, this is exaggerated exponentially if you are sliding slowly.

Sorry to hear about your near-miss, but glad it was exactly that and not a hit. As far as tires, you are a little, no, a LOT limited by the 18" wheels found on '99-'02 Vipers. I have heard rave reviews about the Kumhos in the 17" size, but Kumho won't even answer your e-mails regarding 18" (I wrote every single person I could find in their company when I had my '00 GTS). I think you can get Pirelli's in that size, but don't know that they have much more traction than the stock Pilots.

Make sure you have relatively decent tread on your tires too. I am told that the further out the tread, the softer the compound, and therefor stickier the tire, on Pilot Sports. So while you think you are really getting a lot more miles out of your Pilot's after 10-15K on the odometer, you are actually on a harder compound that is designed to last longer - but not grip as well.

Anybody else have any other suggestions?

Kumhos let me power hard thru turns on the street with no suprise Slide!! They feel like my sprint kart on qualifiers.
