SoCal Member David Kuzmiak (who just returned to the Mainland from Maui)
has suggested and arranged a very cool Tech Event at Meguiar's. This
event will be limited to 30 cars (and 30 people - implying one person
per car). Read David's invitation below and follow his instructions to
sign up and attend.

to VCA members interested in learning about Professional Detailing!
Technical Training Specialist, Mike Phillips, will be our host for the
day.

Got a scratch that is just killing you to look at on your pride 'n joy?

If so, then this is the event for you!! Mike will take you through every
step of returning your car's finish to show-room new! Using a Rotary
Buffer, Random Orbital machines, and good old-fashioned hand work, Mike
will show you how to bring the flawless finish back which your Viper
deserves! Try out every product Meguiar's distributes, whether it be for
Leather care, Plastic Window care, ( for the Gen1 owner), polishes,
compounds, waxes, synthetic sealants, etc.

(Note: Feel free to bring any other type of wax or sealant you are
currently using to finish your car and compare it to Meguiar's
products!)

The Viper Detail Day is a one time only event. The classroom we will be
using only seats 30 people. Due to the size of this venue, (classroom,
detailing bays, restrooms, parking, etc.), only the first 30 Viper
owners responding to this email will be able to attend!

Please post their product recommendations after the event. I do use mostly Meguiar's products and am always interested in feedback. Cool that the event will be Viper Specific.

Experience unshared, is knowledge wasted!

We also will have a freshly painted black RT/10 as a demo car.
The car has lots of color/ finish sanding marks out of the paint shop.
Mike Phillips will have the whole car polished except half the hood. He will then walk us through getting out 1500/2000 wet sanding marks & orange peel.

This will be a great before and after demo.

This will show you that great paint is truly in the prep., not the paint job!

We have hit the 30 cars / 30 people for the event.
I have started a stand-by list for the April 10th outing.

If anyone has further interest, please continue to e-mail, and I will see if Meguiar's will do a second day! Possibly the following Saturday or maybe later in the year.

Outstanding response from the club thus far! This is sure to be an exciting event!

Meguiar's is one the prestigious sponsors for the SoCal Viper Review Magazine. Again, please continue to e-mail and show your interest in this event. What better way to show Meguiar's how much we appreciate their sponsorship, and what better way to get another event, just like this one, organized for the near future.

Meguira's would want eveyone interested to be able to come, but do to the size of the facility where the event will be held, we unfortunately cannot accomodate more than 30 cars at a time.

This is your reminder of the upcoming Meguiar's Detail Day Event!!!

Date: Saturday April 10th, 2004
Time: 9:00 am sharp!
Location:
Meguiar's Inc.
17991 Mitchell South
Irvine, CA 92614

Important: If you have signed up and cannot attend, please email me ASAP! I have a long list of VCA members on a waiting list for this event, who would love to attend the event.

What to expect: The class starts @ 9:00 am sharp. You might want to take a few notes on proper application/product procedure for future reference. (Topics to be covered will include Polisher Speeds, Types of Compound Polishes, etc).

-I know that some members have expressed that they may need to leave after this part. That is fine.

-The rest who want to buff out their cars can expect a fairly long day. With 4 or 5 guys working on a car, however, we will polish them quick!

-Even if the weather isn't that great, you still will want to buff out your cars to get rid of the swirls. The event goes on, rain or shine. They have Service Bays in the event of rain or bad weather.


What you need to do to prepare yourself & your Viper, BEFORE you arrive, (if you want to polish it that day):

-Wear comfortable clothes, tee-shirt, sweats, etc., in case you spill/splatter something that may ruin them

-Vacuum Viper interior and carpets

-Wash Viper BEFORE the event. You don't have to strip the wax. The cleaners used to buff the cars will do that. There is no car wash on site. For those coming a long way, bring your car dusters and quick-detailers, and we will wipe the Vipers down from 8:30-9:00 am. We want to make them as dust and dirt-free as possible.

-Meguiar's will provide all towels, polish products, etc.

-Clean wheels and tires too!

-Bring what ever you need to remove your license plates! (This is, If you like to detail every nook and cranny!)

-You can try every product Meguiar's makes! Tire dressings, interior products, and of course, exterior products
as well.

-'92-'96 RT/10 guys, bring your windows! They have a great plastic polish!

"The reason for the free shipping is because we are not set up
for retail sales at our Irvine location, but we understand the people
that come to the classes want to purchase products typically they
see and learn about at these clinics. It can be hard to find
all of these products in retail stores.

There will be order forms and a Customer Care Center person
available to take orders at lunch. All orders will be processed
on the following Monday, and shipped on Tuesdays."

P.S. For those of you coming from down South, there is a great time to be had if you wish to meet at 7:00am at the Crystal Cove Shopping Center on PCH in Newport Coast. As most of you know, there is a HUGE car show held there every Saturday morning, with lots of exotic/antique/muscle cars to see! You will need to leave this morning car show by 8:15-8:20 am in order to make it to the Meguiar's Detail Day on time.
