Well,

Here is the latest. I got tired of having the hood hinges in the way when I worked on the car so I put some quick pins in the holes that were rivited.

Real pain in the arss to ge the rivits out, but so far everything is going back together fine.

Here are some pictures, and if they do not post, can someone help and post them for me.

Thanks,
Mark... success is taking a saw, drill, and torch to your viper and not saying "OH CRAP"

I will measure and post,, I have the other hinges off that go to the springs on the frame now and I will take some before and after pics with the bushings welded in.

That's a great idea. I wonder why no aftermarket company has created a kit for that yet. Strange, huh? Seems so obvious. Are there any drawbacks?

Other than cutting, drilling, and welding about $800 apiece hinges,,, NO!!!!!

Hah-hah. Thus your statement:
>>> success is taking a saw, drill, and torch to your viper and not saying "OH CRAP" <<<
It all makes so much sense now. :)
But, hey, though many would do no such thing, I'm all for innovative improvements. Better is better!

Henry's race car hood is removable but in a different way. Still has stock hinges, but they are cut above the spring, and a solid square tube is inserted and welded into the car end, and a hole drilled through that and the part that mates up to it. You just slide the hollow tube over the post to line it up. Then, a pin with the ball bearing type push button holds it on. Very easy to deal with, too.

Will try to post some pics.

I think this is a great idea and am considering a similar mod. Can you post a picture or two of the hinge once re-installed? Thanks.
