Went and washed my car, took a friend for a ride and noticed I didn't have the power as normal. After closer inspection I noticed that the throttle cable is only pulling back on the thing a ma jig about 35% anybody else have this problem, I hate to take it to the dealer if it came loose some where, I have heard horror stories.

What year is your viper? Sounds like the throttle cable slipped. There's a half cirlce shaped button by the throttle bodies that will let you adjust the cable. Sounds like a simple fix.

With ENGINE OFF,check to see if the bracket holding the throttle cable on the left front intake manifold is secure. THEN need to check gas pedal to be sure it's properly attached. THEN place a .039 (1.0mm) shim betweem fully depressed gas pedal and it's stop on floor. Next, adjust cable. ..to adjust cable, move the above mentioned bracket to the position where you get wide open throttle. Good luck!

Do not quote me on this but didn't someone say that the throttle cable sheath is actually secured at the pedal with a grommet type rubber fitting? If you pushed the grommet fitting out of the hole, you would effectively disable the throttle cable?

I could be mixing this up with other cars, so don't be surprised if I'm talking nonsense.

Thanks, I took it over to Chris's (The wonderful talented moderator) and it was the rubber grommet on the firewall (in the engine compartment) holding the throttle cable in place. We rigged it to work for a short time but it looks like warranty time.

Thanks for your help
