The PAC-NW VCA had a track day Friday at PIR-Portland. The Portland Rose Festival began Thursday with the arrival of 10 ships from the Pacific Fleet. Impressive sight in a RIVER!
Local businesses and clubs are asked to make the Sailors welcome, with optional (free) activities.
Pac-NW VCA stepped up......we agreed to take 20 sailors for Viper rides at PIR. The City provided transportation to PIR.
Track Workers gave em all the "Dover Salute" at the end of each ride...Navy folks communicate w/ flags, so THAT touch was neat!
Nice, respectful, appreciative, enthusiastic.....all left with a souvenier photo. Maybe we hade one from YOUR town!
